You’ve hired (or are hiring) various vendors for your big day, paying them to perform, organize, delegate, produce, create, and WORRY for you. Let them do their jobs.
I meet on a regular basis with sales/catering managers in the area, and last spring I began taking an informal survey. Everyone I’ve met with agrees with me on the following: In the last two to three years brides seem to be more overwrought concerning their weddings, but they don’t seem to have defined reasons for worries they may have. In talking with various wedding vendors many of them have pointed out, or agreed with me when I brought it up, that the “needless” worrying may be brought about by the reality wedding programs that seem to have proliferated lately.
I think we can all agree that there’s a dearth of reality shows in general on television, and the reason they become compelling (?) to watch is the drama and stress which is created. What fun would they be to watch if everything ran smoothly? I think that most wedding vendors would tell you that the plans for the majority of weddings proceed as planned without any hiccups. The number of smooth flowing weddings/receptions far outnumbers the “disasters”.
Another possible reason is the internet, over which good and bad information is exchanged. It’s a place to learn from others experiences, but keep in mind that the people that speak up the most (whether it be polictics, sports, weddings, etc.) are those that are dissatisfied and want to share their dissapoinment.
If you’ve hired the right people to work for you on your wedding day, all you should have to show up and they’ll lead you through the process. To quote a sales manager at a local hotel, “You don’t have to worry – I’ll tell you when to worry.”
I’d be interested in your views on this subject.

We have participated in this bridal show twice a year for the last ten years and this was by far the busiest our booth has ever been. We had eight representatives working the booth and the only down time was during the fashioin show. Thank you to any of you that stopped by our booth to chat and meet our staff. Our next large bridal show is the Perfect Wedding Guide show on Sunday, February 22 at the Overland Park Convention Center.

It happens every year – immediately after the first of the year brides start contacting wedding vendors in droves. The number of new inquiries we receive in January dwarfs the average number we receive on average other months. Combine this with pending and booked clients nailing down details and getting serious about the planning process creates a lot of energy and excitement – WEDDING SEASON is here!
It’s no coincidence that many bridal shows take place in the first quarter of the year when brides’ interest in planning their weddings is at its peak. Bridal shows are great because you can do a lot of “one stop shopping” (not necessarily buying). If you’ve never planned a wedding, and most of you haven’t, it’s a good way to get your feet wet and see what’s out there and what various services have to offer.
We participate in four major shows every year, two each by KC Bridal Spectacular and the Perfect Wedding Guide. These shows offer a chance to talk to over 180 vendors in one place, but can be overwhelming.
We recently began participating in more smaller shows held by hotels, banquet facilities, country clubs, etc. These shows have a more intimate atmoshpere and are not quite so intimidating, and you have a chance to talk at length with fewer vendors in a more relaxed setting.
I am still amazed how many clients will book their entertainment without meeting the company/DJ in person. I wish more potential clients would meet with us in person, but for some reason the DJ industry continues to be the only wedding service brides and grooms will book sight unseen. These smaller shows are another way to try and reach clients on a personal level.
The bottom of the main page of our website lists the shows in which we are participating. If you attend any of the four large shows you will get a chance to meet five or six of our entertainers; after talking to them you may decide to hire a specific DJ for your reception.
We look forward to seeing you at one or more of the shows in which we are participating.
