Armed with undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education, I started my professional life as a band director. The life of a band director is hectic, demanding, rewarding and very time consuming, and I bowed out after four years with no idea what I wanted to do.
I applied to become a mobile DJ with Complete Music at the corporate headquarters in Omaha, NE, and was hired not only as a DJ, but part of the office staff. After several years in the corporate office I started and operated the Oklahoma City and Tulsa franchises. In 1998 I sold the Oklahoma territories and purchased the existing franchise for the Kansas City metro market which was on a downturn. Owning and operating a mobile DJ service can be hectic, demanding, rewarding and very time consuming.
I’m in my 21st year with Complete Music, yet continue to learn from, and be amazed by, the DJ business and people.
